Ugh.

This is driving me nuts. Since mid-January, after mailing my application to BU, I have waited.

Sometime in March I got an email telling me that the personal check I wrote for admissions would not work with the university. OK, no problem. So I sent a new cashiers check for $53. A few weeks later, another email. Oops! I wrote the check to "Bangkok University International College" not "Bangkok University". So I send another (third) check. Well... this somehow disappears. I don't know this until a few weeks ago. Nobody really tried to tell me this time, they were just waiting a few months. Fine. I'll send another. Actually, my family will because I was gone that week. I got an email saying they received the check just fine. Unfortunately, my family addressed the check to the international college, like my 2nd check.
Oh man this was getting old. I went down to the bank, got a new one myself, and sent it "3-5 day" with the good old postal service. That was May 19. I called today and was told 3-5 day means more like 5-(?). Eh, I guess this is a good exercise in patience. I don't mind waiting for mail really, but after almost four months, I tend to get a little anxious. Even more so when I leave in 3 weeks and I still have no proof that I am accepted into the university OR even have a visa! Yikes. I hope it gets here soon.

Talking with Dekker made me feel a little better. Apartment plans give me something to think about. I'm really starting to go back to a Happy Place (apartment name) train of thought. It is near good food, popular area, not too many other foreigners ($_$), and a nice rooms. The only downside I am seeing is rent. Happy place at 8000-9000 ($200-225) a month is a lot more than my earlier plan for C-One at 3000-4500 ($75-115). Oh well. Mai ben rai. I'll take whatever works out.

My First

This is the first post of what looks to be a semi-exciting blogging journey.
I'll be leaving for Bangkok, Thailand next month, 10 days after graduating from high school. I will be returning to a village in the Lampang province of Northern Thailand, teaching English with a local group. In July, the group will leave and I will begin school at Bangkok University International College (BUIC).
There isn't too much to talk about yet. I am rushing to get some paperwork and visa applications from BU, before my quickly approaching departure date. I also need to get some apartment contacts taken care of. Hmm.... need to get on that soon.
If I can figure out how to add pictures, I will. Maybe I can post some pics from last year's trip.
Bye for now....
